My Pet Story - Rabbits
Okay, this is like getting really stale…but Mom always advised not to leave anything half way done…so, here you go again…
Rabbits are very adorable and I could not stop telling my Dad how adorable they are. Finally, my Dad bought a pair of rabbits for me from the neighbour. It was a pair of snowy white rabbits, the female is chubby and more cuddly while the male is strong and tends to hop away when held.
I remembered that my neighbour told me to feed them only vegetables and not to give any water to the rabbit. The moisture from the vegetables would be enough liquid for the rabbit. My mom bought kang kung, long beans and carrot for me to feed the rabbits. They were placed in a big plastic basket - again.
The rabbits love the beans I peeled out from the long beans. My mom said its a waste to feed them that way and so I just hold the long beans and let the rabbit munch till they bite my finger…ouch!
The thing about rabbit is they tend to poo poo everywhere when they are let out to hop around the house. We stayed in a town house that time (upstairs unit) and so there are not much open space for the rabbits to hop around. My mom get upset when the rabbit poo poo on the floor….kekeke
One fine day, my younger cousins, aunts and uncles came to visit us at our house. My cousins was very excited to see the pair of rabbits and was having so much fun playing and feeding the rabbits. By the time came for them to go home, the younger cousin was crying as she wanted the rabbits so much. My aunt and uncle tried to explain to her and told her that the rabbits are mine. I guess she is too young to understand and was crying buckets. My Dad took pity of her and asked me whether I would give the rabbits to them. He also said that since I am the older one, I should be more generous and understanding of the situation. I was very very reluctant, it took me quite some effort to have the rabbits. I am also worried that they might not be able to take good care of the rabbits…
Anyway, they took home the rabbits. I was heartbroken but I just have to be more grown up at that time and let it be. I cried at night when nobody can see me.
Not long after that, I found out that the rabbits are dead. My cousins stayed in a bungalow and they let the rabbits out to play at the wet lawn. When the rabbits get wets, its feets and body start to decay and got infected. I guess they musht have died in an ugly state. Somehow, I knew they would end up that way as my cousins are too young to understand how to take care of the rabbits and their parents are busy.
What is gone is gone and I get on with my life…
I usually walked to school everyday by myself as the school is nearby about 20 minutes walk from home. During one of the journey back from school, I spotted a small kitten meowing by the road side. It was drizzling that day and the kitten was wet. It looked so pitiful and unable to walk far. I knew at that time that my mom do not like cat but I just cannot tolerate leaving the kitten like that. I found some newspaper and wrap it in the newspaper and took the kitten home….
…to be contiued….
