Gathering
Yesterday, we attended a little gathering organised by a close friend. It was not an official one, just started in MSN. Hubby and me was a little doubtful at first that there would be a good turn up, since we have not seen each other for a long time.
We drag our lazy and tired ass to the gathering anyway. I was thinking, if we don’t turn up as well, we would just contribute to the number of "fong fei kei yau" (like AWOL, i think). The place is near our house and we need dinner anyway.
Surprise! Surprise! The turn up was good, all of us occupied 2 large table and 1 small table. Seeing everyone brings back a lot of past memories…
We all worked and studied in a local higher institution. Those who turned up are mainly students that have worked under our supervision as part-timers. I am glad to see that they are all bright young working adults now. I guess this feeling only comes since I am a mother now.
During our times in the institution, I believe I have offended some of them in many ways. The perfectionist in me, my hard headed views of how things should be done and also being proud of being their senior overtaken me that time. I still remember, some of them had a hard time convincing me about their work and claims. Some of them must have hated me…..a lot…
When I see them yesterday, I remember. It gives a fresh new feeling now and they do not seem to remember me as the "difficult" staff in T&I. Probably its because I am holding baby Zoe, and no one wants to offend a mommy…hahaha
Some of them were very curious about the topic of pregnancy and child birth, and mostly are guys. I told them my experince and that they would make good daddies…hahaha. (I hope they don’t get scared by me!)
A few of them had the chance to carry Zoe like passing the parcel. I can see the delight on their face when she kicks and babbles at them. Some of them are quite good in handling baby and I can see Zoe is very delighted as well.
A bubbling baby can really breaks the ice in everyone.
Some of them remarked that we have progress to another level of adulthood - parents. I also see that they have also progress to the level of working adults. Its good to know that none of us have been left out, but we have progressed.
Thanks to Jon Jon for organising the gathering
