Lilypie 2nd Birthday Ticker

Step by Step

November 29, 2007

Zoe has been practising to stand and sit unassisted for a couple of weeks by herself. She can crawl pretty fast if there is an object that excites her and she can cruise on her own without any help. Her babysitter told me that she has been climbing up and down her sofa. Probably its easier at the babysitter’s place as her sofa is pretty low.

Usually when at home, we just let her roam around the house by herself. Just kept an eye on her to make sure she is not putting yucky stuff into her mouth, or doing dangerous stuff like playing with the electrical socket.

Hubby has been encouraging her to walk by holding her hands. Initially, both hands and now only with one hand. Her face will glow and she cannot stop smiling when she is walking. She will giggle and babble all the way. Usually its just a short walk from the living to the kitchen or to the room, but Zoe is happy enough!

Her steps are quite wobbly in the beginning, but now she is getting the hang of it. She is opening her step and walk like a toddler. I am afraid she will get hurt but hubby is the tough type. When Zoe hesitated, he just told her, "Can laa, you can!! Don’t be afraid, Daddy hold your hand! Not 2 hands…1 hand is okay, come!". She followed and just walk holding one hand, just like that!! It amazes me sometimes how words of affirmation like that made even a baby to be confident and achieve something easily.

We walk to the right
and we walk to the left
and we walk…and we walk…
and we walk all day…

I cannot wait for the day when she stood up by herself and take her first few steps unassisted at all and walk to us. That would be the beginning of another chapter - where Zoe will keep both of us busy with her walking adventures!!!
Yet! I am very excited to see her achieve that milestone emoticon
I am gonna take out those shoes Grandma brought for Zoe to let her try it!

My mom have been takling about buying her a pair of walking shoes for very long, and she bought her a pair when we went out shopping together a coupld of weeks ago (which is a rare occassion). Zoe don’t really like to wear shoes, she knows how to take it out :( I guess she feels weird kua :p

Jazzmint - Yea, time flies. I think this is the most eventful year of my life!!!
